The air is crisp and cool but the golden glow of the sun is brightening the day. It is very quiet at the resort today as the weekenders have left. Heidi our little dachshund, loves to lie on the dashboard of our motor home and bask in the sun. She also enjoys watching the ducks, chickens and rabbits as they freely wander about the park.

A new friend and blogger reminded me of this scripture. I needed to read it again. Phil. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ, who strengtheneth me.

This last week I had surgery. It was suppose to be minor but it turned out to be major. It has been awhile since I last posted. My schedule has been quite busy, but good.

Today I was reading in Matthew 7:15 & 16, in the King James version, of the Bible. 'Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are raving wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?' So we as Children of God need to display the fruits of the Spirit. What are the fruits of the spirit? Galatians 5:22& 23, 'But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, [self-control]; against such there is no law.'

God's love to you allPatricia Pomeroy Tannerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01471848776130042918noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28944046.post-1162848019681768082006-11-06T12:03:00.000-08:002006-11-06T13:20:20.500-08:00Well we got back from Baton Rouge on Friday, Nov. 3rd. I couldn't get on line, while we were gone, so I am behind in my posting.

The author's party on the 27th, at the state library was interesting. Some came dressed to the nines and others were in casual attire. We met poets, shot story writers, novelists and those who write only factual material. I think that there were agents and publisher's reps there but they kept a low profile. Someone was taking pictures, probably for the newspaper. Besides wine and beer, there was a table with all kinds of food. Tantilizing dip, from shimp to bean, crackers, cold cuts, egg rolls, chips and a dessert table, kept us busy sampling for some time as we circulated, while a stringed musical group played in the background.

The book sales on Saturday were in long tents in front of the library. I was across from Pelican Publishers. Three authors who write children's books, were signing their books. To my right was a library group, to my left a book selling company. They had many different kinds of books, some hard covers and some paperbacks.

Cajun and country bands, entertained as visitors and exhibitors alike satisfied their hunger at the food concessions that offered jambalaya, hot dogs, hamburgers and gumbo. The weather was cooperative. It was a beautiful, sunny day.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! My books are selling faster then I can keep them in stock. God blessed me so much at my book signing, last Sat. at B Daltons, in Houma LA. I was signing them 2 and 3 at a time. I was just thinking of how our great God blesses us with all good things. Tomorrow I will be signing copies of my book, Mercy Triumphs, at B Daltons in the Southland Mall, in Houma, Louisiana. Here is scripture for today: James 1:17 'Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights.'

Blessings to you all.Patricia Pomeroy Tannerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01471848776130042918noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28944046.post-1159844622402723252006-10-02T16:59:00.000-07:002006-10-02T20:03:42.560-07:00Adequate sleep is such a blessing. In Proverbs the 3rd chapter, Solomon instructs his son about abtaining wisdom and knowledge. In verse 21, [King James version] he tells him: "My son, let not them depart from thine eyes; keep sound wisdom and discretion; [verse 22] So shall they be life unto they soul, and grace to thy neck. [Verse 24] When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid; yea thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet." After our chapel services, we went to a beautiful park, that a large assembly purchased lately, which is going to be a retreat for different church groups. It is shaded by ancient oaks and has a carpet of lush grass. We had fellowship together and enjoyed a picnic. God has truly blessed us with precious friends!

Here is the thought for the day, from the Niv Bible, in Paul's letter to the Ephesians 5:33, he writes: "However, each one of you must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband."Patricia Pomeroy Tannerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01471848776130042918noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28944046.post-1159477209536369932006-09-28T13:59:00.000-07:002006-11-19T13:17:02.883-08:001 Peter 2:1-2. It has been raining off and on for days, however that has not stopped the members from coming, to take part in the indoor activities. Most everyone has an awning on their RV, so many of them do their cooking outdoors. I haven't looked at the schedule yet but I'm sure there is a dance tonight.

Here is a scripture from the King James version. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. What does that mean? It means to believe on Jesus as our savior and repent of our sins. In other words, we start over. Patricia Pomeroy Tanner is a great writer and I enjoyed every word she wrote. How Mercy finds new evidence that reopens her brother's murder case after 10 years shows you strong family ties. Reading how Mercy and Davids love blossoms warmed my heart. I bought four books from her-one for me and my three daughters. And she personally autographed them all! Actually it only started to rain about ten minutes ago and it is now 4:01 pm.

I have been thinking about our mouths and what comes out of them. Sometimes we [ I] carelessly ramble on not really thinking about what we are saying but when we do, what comes out, comes out of our hearts. It is a sure indicator of what we think. As Christians we are to guard our tongues. And if we think trash, we will say trash. Jesus said in Luke 6: 45..."A good man out of the treasure of his heart, bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man, out of the evil treasure of his heart, bringeth forth that which is evil; for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." King James version. Whoa! Don't get mad! Okay? I'm talking to myself, as much as anyone. I am an outspoken woman. God has had to deal with me about that many times.

Love to you all. If I could spend my time writing, blogging, reading, playing cards and visiting with my friends, I would love it. But that's not what God expects of me. He says that I am to a keeper of the home...so I do what is necessary and try not to grumble because we read in Colossians 3:23 'Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.' Oh well, such is life. I shouldn't even think about how much I don't like the work. I have it so good. I live a life of blissful retirement in a lovely resort. What more would I want? A maid? No just kidding. I like my privacy too much for that.

This is a Bible verse that I learned when I was about 12 years old. John 3:16 NIV... 'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.' Notice it doesn't say, if you go to church regularly or if your parents were Christians or if you keep the ten commandments, or if you were baptized or if you pay tithe or if you live a good life or always do your best or donate to charity or take communion or pray or are confirmed or fast or do good works. It says. WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE!

God's blessings.Patricia Pomeroy Tannerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01471848776130042918noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28944046.post-1157484372434941022006-09-05T11:53:00.000-07:002006-09-08T11:40:12.056-07:00Good afternoon from beautiful Hideaway Ponds Recreational Resort. I am going to do something different today. I came across this blog awhile back and found this post. I thought that it was so good, so I asked the author if I could put it on my blog. She was gracious enough to allow me to copy it. Thanks Leni.

A Woman's Power
Ladies, I've gotta tell you, we have the power in our hands to, at any given moment, to completely make or break our man's day. That's kind of an awesome yet sobering thought. It takes a lot of maturity to not use that power to our advantage. If we'd only use our powers for good...mwahahahaha!!!I was raised to never depend on a man, blah, blah, blah...it surprises me how that thought sneaks in without me even realizing it. I can remember many years ago, during a particularly heated argument, when my husband accused me of manipulating him. I was SO insulted. I think rage-filled was a better term. What he didn't know (and couldn't have known) was how hard I was working on NOT manipulating him. Thing is, I thought I was doing pretty well! ;o) Pride goeth before a fall...Today was one of those occasions that I had the opportunity to bless my husband. I did, and he was SO happy. Thing is, so was I! Did you ever realize that you get blessed by blessing others? Not by gaining something from it, but just by seeing their delight, knowing that you played a hand in brightening their day.I see so many women who seem to delight in knowing that they can crush their man. I really do not see what they enjoy about that. OK, you crushed him, and now you have to live with him, and he thinks less of you. So who won? Don't get me wrong, there are days where that vindictive little voice says, "He may think he got the upper hand, but I'll show him." Please, do not confuse this voice with the "Voice of Reason."Satan will do whatever, whenever he can to tear our marriages apart. It's usually not the big things that get you, it's the little things. The pet peeves that we nurture and hang onto until being right becomes the most important thing. You can talk yourself right into hating your spouse, all because he doesn't put his laundry in the hamper! It starts off with irritation. Then you start to get annoyed that he's so disrespectful. Pretty soon, you feel nothing but contempt for this man who obviously married you to get a slave! Lest you think I'm joking, I know a man who divorced his first wife, whom he loved and continued to have a wonderful friendship with til the day he died. They divorced because she didn't keep a clean enough house, and he just couldn't abide that. Broke up a home with four children over stacks of magazines. I've talked with both of them, at length, and this is TRULY the reason they divorced.Lest you think I'm picking on one or the other, they were both pig-headed! LOL! But it does make me pause and evaluate why certain things bug me so much, and to ask myself if I'm really putting forth as much effort as I could to not push my dh's buttons. If he's really not happy with something, and I'm able to change it, why shouldn't I? Just because 'he can't make me'? Is that going to keep me warm at night?I feel like I really rambled with this post. Sorry about that. I really just wanted to say that I got a huge kick out of making his day today, and I'm looking for opportunities to do it again. Oh, and that doesn't make me a doormat. It makes me a happy wife.
posted by Leni at 3:02 PM 4 comments links to this post

11 Rules
This list is most often attributed to Bill Gates, though research leans towards that being a myth. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feelgood about yourself.

RULE 3. You will NOT make 40 thousand dollars a year right out of high school. It is a feeling that is so powerful, coupled with great contentment. You get up in the morning and you feel so good that you want to do cartwheels up and down the roads but of course you can't do that. Folks with white coats would soon come, and take you away, so you stay in your motor home and PRAISE THE LORD! This kind of unspeakable joy comes from not having anything in your life that separates you from God. The apostle Paul, in the 4th chapter of Philippians, tells you how. [Of course you have to have made a commitment to serve God first.] Philippians 4:8-9 [NIV] Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is pure, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me-put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. [In other words follow his instructions.]

Today the resort will start to fill up for the Labor Day weekend. Along with all the activities that Salli, the activity director has put together, there will be a dance band, in the club-house, on Saturday night.

Patricia Pomeroy Tannerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01471848776130042918noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28944046.post-1156783930056631642006-08-28T09:17:00.000-07:002006-08-31T20:51:40.216-07:00I wish that all of you were as full of joy as I am. It is truly the peace that passeth all understanding! Philippians 4:7...[King James version] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We had another great weekend. Students came in, and gave free massages yesterday, and stayed from 2pm until 7 pm. Let me tell you, I think every one who was here got the treatment!

As I said before, this resort has about 1,000 members and most of them live in Louisiana. So they have to call ahead for reservations. The only people who live here is the staff and a few who lease. The leasing has stopped as the membership is growing so fast. There is one other group, the snow birds and they will be arriving after the first of October. A few bring their golf clubs. I'm not a golfer but sometimes I can see the players, at the miniature course, from my site.

I would like to walk more but it has been too hot so I have to use the golf cart to go back and forth. I do swim in the indoor pool.

Go with God.Patricia Pomeroy Tannerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01471848776130042918noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28944046.post-1156610368640532562006-08-26T08:31:00.000-07:002006-08-26T14:40:24.186-07:00The sun is shining through the Dollar trees, that border the east side of the resort and grow along the outside of the duck pound. Speaking of ducks, the little ones that I wrote about on a previous post, are now grown up and they are as beautiful as they where when they were duckings. Most of them are still black and white, black on their rears and have some black on their backs but the rest of their bodies are white. They are tame as a lot of the members feed them. There is also an animal pen, that the children love. Right now there are three goats, a parrot named Dexter and several chickens living there. The chickens only go in there to be feed and roost for the night. Rabbits use to live in there but the owner turned them loose, so they roam all over the resort, along with the chickens.

I just got word that are winter camp host, S G, was just diagnosed with lung cancer. Please hold him up in prayer.

I have traveled a great deal in my life. God has greatly blessed me and my family. But when I was a teenager I had a wanderlust heart and so I was lucky to be able to satisfy it, after my children grew up. I have been reluctant to put any of my poems on here, as I plan to publish them in a book one day, but for some reason I wanted to post one that I wrote when I was about fourteen. I was gazing out the window of my study hall and this poem came to me.

OH TO BE A BIRD

Oh to be a bird
And fly or'e ocean deep,
Far across the praire land
And up the mountain, steep.

Oh to be a bird
And fly or'e hill and dale,
Up through the big blue mist
And or'e the clouds asail.

Oh to be a bird.
If mortals could but grow,
Wings that spread out wide
And soar where er'e they go!

Thank you God for allowing me to travel!

Luke 11:9...[King James] And I say to you, Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

My God bless you all!Patricia Pomeroy Tannerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01471848776130042918noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28944046.post-1156448135577841362006-08-24T12:13:00.000-07:002006-08-24T15:54:58.096-07:00Good afternoon,

A lady, who lives in the park, had a birthday yesterday. As I make most of the cards for the park and all of our personal cards, I made one for her and took it around to have everyone else sign it. Last evening, the members brought lots of food and we had a big party. The birthday lady was very surprised so it was a bang-up success! They had planned to play po-ke-no. I am not a po-ke-no fan and I usually don't play it but Bob and I filled in for two of them who were running late. We did have lots of fun.

Isaiah 61:11...'As a garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord God will cause righteousness...to spring forth.' The Bible says things that are sown, so as Christians we have to sow seeds in ourselves by reading the Bible, fellowship with other believers and other activities that can help us grow spiritually.

God bless you all.Patricia Pomeroy Tannerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01471848776130042918noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28944046.post-1156202363087241352006-08-21T16:16:00.000-07:002006-08-21T16:19:23.100-07:00Well we have had a beautiful day, no rain so far.Patricia Pomeroy Tannerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01471848776130042918noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28944046.post-1156180850343122192006-08-21T09:34:00.000-07:002006-08-21T10:20:50.353-07:00Greetings from Hideaway Ponds. I think we are going to get some rain today.

Yesterday after our chapel service, I did the Bible Story Lady. I use music, puppets, that I had crocheted and a video. The children color while they watch a Bible story. Yesterday the story was Noah's Ark.

At three p.m. Bob and I went to the ice cream social, in the club-house. They serve two huge scoops of vanilla ice cream and there is a large assortment of toppings, for $1.50. We have to get tickets from the office but if we buy 5 tickets, we get them for $6.50, a $1.50 saving. My favorite toppings are caramel and chopped nuts. Bob always goes for chocolate. Some us started playing cards, after we ate our ice cream. There were four players in our group. About 8 p.m. Bob quit and left. Then 3 more of our friends joined us, so then there were 6 of us and we played until 9:30. My partener and I didn't win...but there is always next time...besides we had a lot of fun.

I know that sometimes we as Chistians have miraculous answers to prayer. I have had instant healings and rarely do I have trouble sleeping but sometimes when I have and I have asked God for help, most of the time I barely finish the prayer and I go to sleep. However, God doesn't always take our pain or problem away because according the apostle Paul, he himself had what he called a 'thorn in his side'. He asked God to remove the 'thorn' but the Lord told him in 2 Corinthains 12:9..."My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness."
Paul said that the 'thorn' kept him humble.

BlessingsPatricia Pomeroy Tannerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01471848776130042918noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28944046.post-1155911959997003782006-08-18T07:14:00.000-07:002006-08-18T07:39:20.006-07:00It rained a short time last evening and today the sun is shining. Hideway Ponds is a membership resort and most of the members live in Louisiana. Today three couples, who are our friends, are coming in for the weekend. There isn't a band scheduled for Saturday night, in the club-house, so folks will be wining, dining, card playing and/or just having fun. By Saturday afternoon, the park will be nearly full and it has 101 camp sites.

As Christians we need to remember that God is all powerful. Jeremiah 32:27 "Behold I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything to hard for me?"Patricia Pomeroy Tannerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01471848776130042918noreply@blogger.com6
